Google Raid

I have talked about using Web Position Gold and Internet Business Promoter in the past – I have used both in the dark and distant past but do not recommend them..

It has already been noted everywhere that WPG is absolutely not good to use

Recently I met a businessman here in Plymouth that insisted on using Internet Business Promoter which is all very nice with pretty reports BUT does it really help to keep sending third party “bots” to Google – NO! It’s raiding their servers for no apparent reason and surely Google have some form of IP address penalty in place here??

My advice? Once again do not use third party seo tools make the most of Google in itself and knock it off using IBP, WPG and whatever!

A Good SEO

Need an absolute expert SEO? Call David 07538 199694

A good SEO nowadays is:

Technically proficient.
A sound copywriter.
An analytics expert.
A usability consultant.
A PR genius.
A social networker who is strategic in their approach yet can mind the details to execute and actually “do some work”.

This Plymouth Herald and why it will fail

…..print media is on it’s last legs. Locally we’ve seen the Exeter Express and Echo alongside the Torquay Herald Express “go "plymouth herald"weekly” and thus be rammed with old news and plenty of ads – packed with ads!

This is Plymouth which in reality is the “online Herald” will fail soon as most people use Google Alerts to find local news – the online “Herald” shows in most Google Alerts for the keyword “Plymouth”

How will they fail? Well Google have introduced a new segment to their algorithm that will penalise any website that has too many ads popping up everywhere  - sending searchers to websites like This is Plymouth who could well be penalised by Googlebot for having too many “in your face ads” which reduces the searchers experience.

Soon there will be “Nothing above the Fold but What You Pay For” along with a fantastic Google+ Search Your World which will give people searching Google for anything and everything Plymouth  totally fresh news, new news! free of annoying ads and pop ups – float ads and such …..

Let’s face it the Plymouth Herald doesn’t giveaway free ads so why should Google send people to the Herald website when it is plastered with really annoying ads?

Google Update:

Regardless of what it’s called, it is a dial up of one of the main focuses of the Panda Update. They’re re-targeting ad heavy sites and dropping them from the rankings. According to Google, users have been complaining about the amount of ‘above the fold’ space that some sites have dedicated to ads alone. The argument is that it takes longer and is harder for users to find the content they’re looking for.

Matt Cutts of Google Web Spam Team officially stated that “Google understands many sites use multiple ads at the top of their site to bring in money, and those are commonly the best performers.” However, some sites take up too much space at the top of their site to a degree that it negatively affects the user experience, and those sites are the ones feeling this latest update.

Plymouth Buzz is waiting in the wings with fresh new content and some great new feature writers – OH! and no boring old ads and intrusive pop ups everywhere !

Keyword Density

Much has been said about keyword density. Much will doubtless continue to be said about it.

The truth is:

Keyword density ratio is no longer used by search engines to determine relevance and represents an SEO strategy of the past.

Reciprocal Links and SEO

Reciprocal links—the term used when Web site owners “swap” links—was once a mainstay of link building strategy. That is no longer the case.

In fact, if your Web site reciprocates links with link farms,  hidden links or websites/blogs with shed loads of links (usually plastered around the footer of a site)  or if the ratio of your reciprocal links exceeds a small % of your total incoming link count, your link structure may look artificial from the search engine point of view –   it’s highly probable  your Web site could be penalised in the rankings. Google are watching, it’s their business to serve good results – don’t try to “work it” that is an out dated tactic.
