We really believe that the pending “Google Caffeine” update will include some, major,  sweeping changes to “search”.

Caffeine, which is the working title, has been in beta for some time now and we have been using it built as a Firefox add on.

Google have stated that there will be no major changes until after Christmas – read into that what you will!

We, personally, see the changes coming in the form of social media, photographs, profiles, honesty and lots more information.
Honestly! Too many people think Google is a free way for them to make millions – We’ve  always told clients that this is not the long term case and that Google is a business the same as them – Window Cleaner? Lawyer? Builder? Car Dealer? – all businesses that have escaped Yellow Pages and moved into the brave new world of websites and blogs and the (NOT) mystical art of SEO.

The thing is Google is a business and looking  after it’s searchers is the main priority – that’s how they got where they are!

We at Ab Fab Media see Google Local and Maps as being huge for local searchers but, potentially, a paid model. In other words bang goes Yellow Pages and in comes Google Local – we see that as a wonderful way to get rid of the cheats, scammer’s and fake listings in one fell swoop – we’ll happily pay for our Google Local Listing!

Be prepared to see a lot more Photographs, Knol, Wikipedia, Social Media, Maps and local stuff being served up in your searches. Oh and do use Google Apps! ;)

The future of SEO? We believe is going to be still massive but on a much more local scale and with national companies and brands having to “shell out” for product placement – well it’s only fair enough in our minds!
